Blog Hop with a Difference

A few weeks ago I was asked by my dear friend Helen Wallace if I would like to play along with a BLOG HOP with a DIFFERENCE.
After reading the email it all seemed a bit daunting, I wasn't sure if I wanted to play along...
after sleeping on it and rereading it again next morning I though it sounded like a bit of fun.....
so I said Yes I would love to join in.

Click HERE to go to Helen's blog.
Helen's work is beautiful. I am in awe of her journaling talents....she is a journal junkie (Helen's words). Helen has inspired me to journal more on my layouts instead of just having a title and date. Helen is on the CSI, Scrap Africa and Megs Garden Design Teams.

My list of Friends are at the bottom of this post.
They will reveal their posts next week- 7th July.

Getting to know ME....

1. What am I working on right now.
I am working on a Birthday Card for my Beautiful Mum.
Mum loves to receive something handmade.
She absolutely loves Heather Jacob's work as do I,
so I have created a Heather Jacob inspired card for her
using some gorgeous Maja Design papers and some cricut cut outs from Mum.
"Happy Birthday for Sunday Mum"
Hugs from Janice xx

I am also working on some GD creations.
Super excited to be invited to Guest Design here.
Make sure you pop back for the full reveal soon.

2. How long does it take to create a layout?

To be honest it takes me way to long....
I am a very slow scrapper, I procrastinate way to long.
Some layouts come together quickly and others take me days to complete.
I am sure if I had my own scrapbooking room I would create more ...and be more organized...some days I spend hours looking for something I know I have, but cannot find. I tell myself to pack up and put away after I have finished a layout....... but I don't always do that.
I am a messy scrapper.

3.What  are my favourite things I love to create with?
At the moment I am loving washi tapes, I know rub-ons are old but I still love using them, chipboard, thread, inks and stamps.

4.How does your creating process work?
Most times I choose a photo first...sometimes changing it to Black/White, depending on the criteria of the challenge.
I then select my papers...Using papers from the same manufacturer or collection-
 It makes colour matching easy.
I often look for a sketch for inspiration and design layout.
I select my accessories/embellies to match.
I create the background layers-(mixed media, inks, mists, stamping)  Let it Dry or if I am in a hurry heat gun it dry.
I start adding more layers....washi strips, and rub-ons
Add my paper layer -Place them down and adhere
Add my photo.
 Add title and text.
 Add embellishments.
Add finishing touches etc...more misting/ stamping.
This all sounds and look like every layout should fall in place very easy....BUT they don't!
Sometimes I tell myself to just stick it down, no more shuffling, moving changing...just stick it down.

HINT: once you have decided on placement take a photo of your layout....refer back to the photo when you are adhering the layers and embellies.

5.How do I become inspired and stay inspired?
My Children, well young adults now, my Mum and life in general keep me inspired.
I am also inspired by the many talented scrappers who share their work via blog, facebook or
you- tube tutorials.
Magazines are full of inspiration.
Inspiration is everywhere!
I have been fortunate to be on a few amazing Design Teams and have had the opportunity to do some Guest Designing,....this always keeps me inspired, scrapping and preserving my Family memories.

6 What is my Signature style?
My signature style is minimalistic....I love white space.
On most of my layouts you will find a HEART of some description
-chipboard, rub-on, washi, paper, metal, ribbon, transparent, template, stamp-

And, hehe, guess what?? I'm doing my first 12x12 to challenge myself. First 12x12 since I don't know how long.

Thank you for the asking to be involved. I'm still feeling very flattered.

I better now get my butt into gear and get set up for the blog journey. (As well as everything else I seem to cramp into my week.)

Thanks for accepting the invite Janice and making the time to tell us a bit more about your creative process. What a gorgeous card with the Maja papers in the Heather Style. The magenta thread makes it all pop. I'll be interested to see your GD reveals too. Like you, I take forever to complete a page; sometimes a deadline puts a bomb under me and I stop procrastinating. Of course you are inspired by those gorgeous young adults with their beaming smiles. Just scrolling through all your pages is fun - each using similar products, yet completely individual. Looking forward to seeing the blogs of the scrappers you've tagged. Thanks again for joining in. :D

Ah I was supposed to play along too but then life just got in the way and I got so overwhelmed that I actually sat back and re-evaluated everything. Maybe not such a bad thing. I loved reading more about you and I truly love your style.
