CSI- Case File No. 171 - in Mum's garden

Hello scrappy peeps!

I stopped by CSI and had a look at the new Case File  No. 171 and fell in love with the colours...
.pink is a bit of a favourite colour of mine..
I just had to play along.

Here is  Case File  No.171 to be solved.

I popped around to visit Mum and this Daisy bush caught my eye...
it is in full bloom and looks so beautiful.

Here is what I made.

[in Mum's garden}

....and how I solved the Case.

The Scheme;  I have used all 5 colours
Cherry Vanilla, Strawberry Scoop, Cake Cone, Marshmallow, Waffle Cone
Evidence:: wood, stripes, triangles, cork, dots, texture paste & something transparent
Testimony: Document a celebration.
I journaled about how my Mum loves to give garden flowers  to celebrate a special occasion.
Inspirational Word: celebrate
My journalling is written on the back and reads like this.......

This gorgeous pink daisy is in full bloom in Mums garden.
Mum loves her cottage garden andany chance she gets, she is out in it.
She is planting something new or potting a cutting, fertilizing, bags and bags of sheep manure from the farm are placed carefully around each plant/bush to help it grow, watering, weeding, there is always plenty of weeds, trimming or pruning.
Mum always picks a fresh bunch of flowers to celebrate a birthday, an anniversary or any other special occasion.
I love receiving a beautiful big bunch of flowers from her garden for my birthday.

Thanks Mum. xx

Thanks so much for stopping by.
Your lovely comment are so much appreciated.

Thanks to the lovely Helen Wallace for the Flair button and
 the little wood veneer birds.

Another weekend is almost her.
Enjoy

Show us your Stuff - July Challenge - handwriting. 'School girl'

Hello Everyone.

I am  really enjoying just scrapping for myself at the moment.
Can you tell?  I don't think I have ever finished so many layouts in a month.
I am usually a slow scrapper who procrastinates way to much.
I can spend 2,3, 4 days even up to a week to complete a layout.
Not sure what has changed, I guess the freedom of not having to scrap to dates, days and times.
I am also making old,  new again by scrapping what is in my rather huge stash.

handwriting make a layout much more special and personal.
I rarely hand-write and if I do its usually just the date.

have a brand new challenge for the month of July, and this month it has been put together by  Design Team member Kylie Tout...

You can choose to interpret this however you wish, as long as we can clearly see handwriting featured on your layout. (Hidden journalling or only a few words will not count!) In addition, don't forget to include at least one handmade embellishment somewhere on your creation.

When I saw this challenge  at 'Show us your Stuff ,' I thought I would give it a go.... after reading the criteria,....  and looking through my stuff to scrap I found this spelling test that Sarah  did and thought it was just perfect. This is her handwriting in Year 3 - 8 Years old.
It's actually a list of words she practised  at home before school started.

Here is what I made.

[School girl]

and here is a close up of my handmade embellishment.
The photo frame was made and coloured by Sarah in Year 3....pretty cute isn't it.

Sorry for the poor photo/ photography ...its a  wet and windy day here today.

Your beautiful comments inspire me to keep scrapping and sharing.
Thanks for taking the time to stop by and leave me some love.

Enjoy your day!

Random Snapshot - Scraplift

Hello and Thank You for stopping by.

Scrapping just for me, for my blog and album.
No posting or sharing anywhere except for here on my blog.
I saw this gorgeous digital layout.....Loved it and wanted to scrap lift it.
Sorry but I cannot remember who designed it.
(I am inspired by lots of Gallery Standouts work and I'm pretty sure I saw it on there somewhere)

I am not a digi scrapper so mine  is a hybrid

{RANDOM SNAPSHOT}

I am really happy with how it turned out...plenty of room for improvement I know,
 but I had fun playing,
A 12 x 12 printer would be great. Its on my wish list along with lots of other things!
Just wish the white paint that I added last was actually white and not cream.
I loved the title  also and it fitted my photo perfectly so used that on my layout.
I didn't realize is was that crooked though.....oops!

If you are reading this and know who created or designed this please leave me a name in the comments below and I will be  more than happy to share, credit and link.

I am enjoying playing along with a few challenges and scrapping just for myself.
August, September and early October I will be working on wedding things..exciting times.

Enjoy your week.

Love

CSI Case File No. 170 - White Water World

Hello my scrappy friends.
Its has  been quite awhile since I played along over at Colour, Stories and Inspiration.
I was looking for a challenge this weekend and thought I would have a play along with No. 170.
One of the reason I started with CSI was because of the journaling aspect. A lot of my pages only contain a title, not much for those looking back on it in years to come....and scrapbooking is all about the memories and having a bit of creative fun. When I saw these colours I knew I had a photo already printed ...not the size I normally scrap with but   why print another photo when you already have one....so I decided to work with this size. I did find it challenging though and almost gave up.
Here is the challenge.

 This is what I made.
{White Water World}

This is how I solved the Case File-
The Scheme - use all 5 Colours - lime green, blue, white, bright red and bright sky blue.
Evidence - Stripes, triangles, banners, arrows, solid brads, flairs, stars & metal.
Testimony -  Write a Top 10 list.   this journaling is stuck to the back of the layout.
1. We were all feeling very excited for our trip today.’White Water World’ here we come.
Day 3 -The day was just perfect…the sun was shining for us.
2. Upon arrival you jumped out of the car and grabbed your bags.
Then we joined the long queue and waited to get in.
3. You were so excited. You had the biggest smile and was eager to jump on a ride.
4. We are in……“Come on Dad” are you ready yet?
First ride – ‘Super Tubes, Hydro Coaster’….’The Green Room’.
You loved this is one.
 Then ,’The Bro’,
‘The Rip’,
‘Caves of Waves’,
‘Temple of Hueys’,
 and’ The little Rippers’.
All so much fun and   filled with thrilling twists and turns, high speeds and being swept away.
5. You went back to ‘The Super Tubes, Hydro Coaster’ – ‘The Green Room’.
You remember this ride the most, no lines ups, so you were no sooner at the bottom and you were up the steps and being swept down again.
6. You had so much fun and loved every minute of it.
7. Matthew is a water baby so loves anything to do with water.
8. You noticed all the lifeguards and thought that would be a good job and probably  something you could do when you left school or even do as a holiday job.
9. Mum sat and watched, took photos and videoed us from the biggest row of chairs in front
of this cool place called ‘The Shack’.
10. I will come back here one day.
April 2008 - 13 years old
I also added some journaling to the tag tucked in behind the photo

White Water World
It’s a water ride park.
Rides for the Thrill Seekers
‘Super Tubes’ – ‘The Green Room’
‘The Bro’
‘The Rip’
‘Temple of Hueys’
‘Little Rippers’
and
‘The Cave of Waves’
So much FUN
Thank you CSI  & Debbi Tehrani for such awesome challenges and for getting me to journal again. Thanks also to the wonderful DT for their amazing inspiration.
You can see this is an old photo, (2008) but its so nice to get them out and relive all the wonderful times we had and the memories we have.
Thanks for stopping by and for any comments you may leave.
 Love
Janice xx

Post Edited on 15th August

This  is such a huge thrill.
Thank you CSI for choosing my layout as
Tell Your Story. It's our tagline, and here at CSI, it's one of our missions to get our members to delve deeper into journaling--to document the meaningful bits and pieces that make up our lives. We would like to shine a special spotlight each week on a member who did an exceptional job telling their story. Click here to see an archive of all our Star Witnesses.
Janice brings this theme park to life through her 13-year-old son's words. We love that she interviewed him to create the top ten list and that she even included additional journaling behind the photo with that awesome shaggy fiber that adds a whimsical touch to her super-fun, bold, happy page!.
 Doing a happy dance.

Thanks Card

Hello my Scrappy Friends!

Today I am sharing with you another card.

I was asked to make a big card for a special lady who is leaving work soon.
She is really loved at work and is going to be really missed.
I have included lots of pages and a couple of pockets with tags for all the staff to write their messages on. They are also going to tuck some photos into the pockets.
I hope the special lady likes it.

Hope you are having a great day.

Kraft Plus July Challenge - goodtimes

Hello!

The new Kraft Plus challenge is up.
A Mustard Explosion!

The criteria:
Use Kraft as your background
Draw inspiration from the photo
and
Use yellow paint on your layout

My first thoughts when I saw this challenge.....

Eeekkkk - What!!!!! A Mustard Explosion - use Yellow paint on your layout.
Now what am I going to do???
Yellow is a colour I  rarely scrap with and paint is  not something I use much of either.
Now this is going to be a challenge for me.
But I love a challenge.

After much thought and a look at the Kraft Plus DT's brilliant and inspirational layouts, I had an idea in my head....it was just a matter of getting it from there to the Kraft Paper,
( sometimes easier said than done for me.)

After looking closely at the photo, and past the mustard explosion, a few things inspired me.
 1. My eyes were immediately drawn to  the White Heart. Hearts are my scrapbooking trademark - almost every layout of mine has a heart of some sort on it. Yes I would use white hearts.
2. The depth and layers in the photo, I love adding layers on a layout. I would do that.
3. A touch of yellow paint  here and there would work best for me.
The challenge says to use yellow paint, it doesn't say how much,so that is entirely up to you.
Okay, I think I can do that.
4. I also spotted a roll of twine. I am loving twine and thread at the moment so yes I would  use that somewhere on my layout.
AND
Amanda Hall's layout really inspired me.
I loved her idea of using chipboard  and  layering chipboard  elements to the
 background of her layout

Here is what I made.

My time on the 2Crafty Chipboard Design Team had just ended and I have a huge stash of this gorgeous chippie left over, so when I saw Amanda's idea  I  decided to add layers and layers of chippie pieces to my background.
I painted each piece of chippie with yellow paint and  the Chippie Hearts were painted white.
This isn't exactly what I had in my head, but I'm happy with how it turned out.
Thanks Amanda  for your inspiration.
Thanks Kraft + for a fun challenge.

Thanks for stopping by and having a  look at my work.
Your lovely comments are always much appreciated. Thank You.

Janice xx
