Scrap The Girls - treasure forever

Its a Mood Board.
Here is what it looks like.
Amazing and Beautiful!

 I spied this challenge early in the month and my first thoughts ..."that's beautiful but way to hard and not colours I would usually use." But there was something there that kept drawing me back for another look. Wanting to scrap today I decided to give it a go...found the photo ...3 Generations hand shot all wearing our wedding rings....(Sarah, myself and Mum),   delved  deep into my stash to find papers and suitable embellishments.

 and this is my finished layout.

[treasure forever}

Using some really old Basic Grey Paper from when I very first started scrapbooking....yeah its old. Also some newer Crate Paper.

 Showing a close up of the details in the cluster.
Blooms, flowers, 2Crafty Chipboard, leaves, thread, pearls, metal flowers

 An embossed 2Crafty Chipboard Butterfly

 I love these small 2Crafty Chipboard words.I heat embossed using 2 different colours.
Also a gold embossed 2Crafty chipboard heart.

Really happy with my finished page.  So pleased I played along and did the challenge ......after all it is a challenge and if it  was really easy it wouldn't be a challenge would it.
Thanks Krisy from Scrap The Girls for setting the challenge and the inspiration from the DT.

Thank you for your kind words about my layouts...means the world to me.
Enjoy your day!

D-Lish Scraps - this life is pretty good

                                              My first time playing along here at D-Lish Scraps.
I loved  the Inspiration Board, the bright fresh colour palette and the fabulous sketch.

Here it is!

....and here is my take using the colour palette and the sketch.
I love working with a sketch and interpreting it  to suit my style.

{this life is pretty good}

The colours are so bright, fresh and summery and this photo of Matthew fishing on our  recent boating trip in his coloured shorts was perfect.. We had such a great day.

 A fabulous 2Crafty Chipboard pieces altered using Versa Colour Inks.

 A close up of some of the smaller details.

Flowers, blooms, doily, 2Crafty Chipboard, thread, washi tape, paper strips, puffy stickers.

   It was such a fun challenge to play along with.
Working with colour challenges can sometimes be hard, but if you pick out a predominant colour you can them add smaller  touches of the other colours. Here I have used more of the blue/green colours as the main elements and added touches of the corals and yellows.

Thanks for the inspiration D-Lish Scraps.

Thanks for stopping by!
Your kind words are much appreciated.

Enjoy your weekend!

Scrap the Boys - January Challenge- Teach Your Kids What Counts Most

The January Challenge is to create a Layout using Numbers.
 Here is my take on the challenge.

{Teach Your Kids What Counts Most.}

I stash busted for this layout.
I found an old piece of number paper and used it as a stencil to create the background using white paint. Added some of the fabulous 2Crafty Chipboard pieces, got the old dymo xpress out to add the journaling and lastly to add some colour I used some washi tape.
A pretty simple layout !

I have hand written my journaling on the back of the layout.
We are very proud  of our  boy.
We were told quite often what a great kid he was and how he had many of these qualities in life (the list on the layout) at a young age, and to this day he still has them. and we are still being told what a great lad he is. Might be a bit biased but we are very proud of the young man he has become.

Layered  2Crafty Chippie pieces.
Number Panels, Mini School Year Titles, Mini Family Icons,
Hessian Patch, Mini Fast Forward Arrows, and  Stars.

 The stencilled background.

Thank You once again for taking the time to visit my blog.
I really appreciate your kind  words.
January is a really quiet time at work for me, so I'm making the most of  it and loving that my mojo has returned and that I am able to spend time creating and sharing.
Thanks to those wonderful challenge organizers and their DT for inspiring me to play along.

Guest Designing at Colour Stories Inspiration

Hello!!

I'm thrilled to be Guest designing again for Colour Stories Inspiration
Case File NO. 222

I love the concept of these challenges
The Scheme- use all 5 colours -  You may use neutrals (Black, White, Kraft, Cream, Gray, Brown) to these colours.  Hint: pick a predominant colour and use small amount of the others if you wish.
Evidence- from the list choose 3 or more to include on your page.
Testimony- This is the journaling part. Choose one or more elements for your journaling.
I chose Winter.
This photo of Sarah was taken in  December 2013 when she visited Churchill.
Needless to say it was very cold.
Have fun!!!

{brr}

The Scheme: All 5 colours used.
I picked white as my predominant colour and added smaller pieces of the other 4 colours.
Click here to be inspired by the DT and GDT members  creations.
Evidence: chevrons, ribbon, bow, glitter, patterned boards, snowflakes

I finished this layout, read and reread my journaling before I printed it out, Cut it out, stuck it on and re read again. Photographed, edited, sent to Debbi and put it aside. A week later I reread it again and noticed a spelling mistake...amazing how the mind reads and misses things.

My Journaling reads-
Its Winter time here in Churchill, and its freezing!!
Yeah its freezing alright...outside for a few minutes and my eyelashes were frozen.
Such an amazing experience. One we will remember for a lifetime.
We stayed at Jen and Gerald's, who own Blue-sky Dog sledding Expeditions.
A few days before Christmas, Gerald took us on a dog sled ride, hunting for a Christmas tree.
We rugged up, put on our coats with big red bows attached to the hats, which is a tradition of theirs whilst tree hunting and away we went. Todays temperature was minus 30. We enjoyed a beautiful white Christmas Day, experienced some incredibly cold days, played in the snow, we spent time feeding and tending to the sled dogs,we saw the Northern lights and we walked along the edge of the Hudson Bay.

Its such a great challenge, you have 2 weeks to plays and upload your layout here for the chance to win some fabulous prizes.

Thanks for stopping by and for your kind comments.
