Janice Nicholls 2Crafty May Shares

Hello Everyone!
Well its my turn again to share over on the 2Crafty blog.
This month I only get to share 2 layouts.....2Crafty have something special happening on my 3rd day....be sure to pop in to check out what it is  :)
I love adding this gorgeous chippie to my projects.

This is my Design Team post.
Janice Nicholls - My May Shares

Hello Everyone!!
Welcome to the 2Crafty blog.
Today it is my turn to share two  layouts both featuring the Gorgeous 2Crafty Chipboard

My 1st share is all about the most amazing and unforgettable holiday we had last year.

 {Unforgettable}

  The 2Crafty chipboard pieces I used on this layout are;
Palm Trees
Small Palm Trees
2013
 Unforgettable-title

 I created a little cluster at the bottom of the palm trees and added the 2013 date to it.
2013 was simply inked with Pinecone ink.

 Unforgettable is the perfect title for my page....again I just coloured it using
 Pinecone ink and stitched it onto my page with thread.

 Each Palm Tree was given a light coat of gesso, then a light smear of Texture paste.
Once it was dry I coloured the stems with Pinecone Ink and rubbed them back using an emery board, to  resemble the bark.
The leaves were coloured using different shades of green inks and the biggest and smallest Palm Tree leaves were outlined with a green marker.  Then I layered them together using pop dots to add some dimension and created a little cluster at the bottom.
My 2nd share today is a layout I created  for a Challenge
 about scrapping that "Imperfect photo".

 {Treasure Forever}

When we scrap we tend to always look for that perfect photo but what about that
 "Imperfect Photo". The one that is slightly blurry, has the wrong light, or is out of focus.
 We all have them and cannot bring ourselves to delete or scrap them.
 The picture does not have to be perfect to have special meaning, it may be the
only one you have.
The challenge was to scrap that "Imperfect Photo" and capture a memory for the future.
This is what I created...a 3 generation photo, slightly blurry, out of focus
but I love it and it has such a special meaning.

The 2Crafty Chipboard I have used on this layout are;
Flourish Adornment
Fern
Fanciful Butterflies
Funky Heart

All these pieces were coated with a thick layer of White Distress Crackle paint
 and once dry sprayed with Glimmermist.

Friendship Mini Words- Treasure, Forever
These word were used to create my title and were coloured with silver ink

The Fanciful Butterfly and Flourish Adornment were coated with Distress Crackle Paint
and sprayed with Glimmermist, then added to a flower cluster.

 Fanciful Butterfly

 A Funky Heart
surrounded by lots of beautiful flowers.

This  Fern  was part of the cluster and helped frame the photo.

Thanks for stopping by the blog today.
I will be back  in June with 3 more projects to  share.

Design Team Layout for Case File No 122 at CSI

Hello Everyone!

So are you ready for this week's challenge?
Grab your forensics kits, CSI members, and get ready for some serious sleuthing as we open
 Case File No. 122.
And since it's the second week of the month, we have a Page Drafts sketch created exclusively for CSI by our fabulous Composite Sketch Artist and design team member, Em Stafrace.
Check out all the breathtaking inspiration here
 This is my Design Team layout for this case.

 {1,2,3,4 in our Happy little Family}
Here is how I have solved Case No. 122
The Scheme:  These are not colours I usually scrap with so almost gave this one a miss...but  a challenge is a challenge  so decided to push myself out of my comfort zone..
I have used all 5 colours; orange, avocado green, white, black, celadon green
Evidence: flowers, leaves, metal brads, ribbon,tags.
Testimony; Journal on a tag, Inspiration word-setting, handwrite your journaling in cursive....Sarah likes it when I handwrite on a layout.... note to self-I should do it more.
We chose this magnificent setting at the golf course to have our Family photos taken.
Its a 10 minute drive from home and a really beautiful spot..
Kevin is a keen golfer  and frequents the course every Sunday over the winter golfing season.
 Wide open spaces, big sprawling gum trees, winter and spring grass abundant, a running creek, kangaroos and rabbits.... it was the perfect spot for us.
 We had a gorgeous young lady take these photo for us today.
Thank you so much Georgie Daniels.... we love our photos

Thanks so much for stopping by. Your lovely comments are always read and much appreciated.
I would love to see you join in and solve this case.
Upload your layout into the gallery.
Its lots of fun!

My 1st CSI Design Team share Play

Hello Everyone!!
I am very excited to share my 1st layout as a new Design Team Member over at

{Play}
 It is such a gorgeous colour combo.
Case File No. 121
This is how I solved it;
The Scheme; I have used all 5 Colours; deep burgundy, ivory, white, black, light gray
Evidence; something transparent, flowers, book pages, cord/twine/jute.
Testimony; Document 4 interesting things about your photo;
1.This grand old piano belonged to Sarah's Nanna Nicholls and sits pride of place in our hallway.
2.Sarah had Piano lesson for 3 years.
3. Sarah loves to play but isn't home much anymore.
 Whenever she does come home she love to sit and play.
4. I love listening to her play. I often sit an listen and wish I could play.

Click here to see all the amazing creations from this incredibly talented Design Team .
We would love to see you join in and share your layout in the gallery.

Happy Friday! And Happy May! A new month brings lots of new surprises, and this month is extra-special because our brand-new Detectives are making their official debut! Please welcome: Adele Beck, Anna Sigga, Cathy Cafun, Cindy Fortin (aka Violette), Felicity Wilson, Jacqueline Moore, Janice Nicholls, Libeeti Frenkel, Maria Rose, Michelle Whorwood, and Terhi Koskinen

This is how the challenge works

Tune in each Friday evening (around 6:00 p.m. United States EST) for our weekly reveal to see the current Case File.
The Case File contains the following elements:
"The Scene" - This is the inspiration image from which the color palette, inspiration, and story starters are drawn.
"The Scheme" - This is the palette of five colors you must use. You may add neutrals (black, white, kraft, cream, gray, brown) to these colors. Please try to get your colors as close to this swatch as possible, but don't drive yourself crazy or not play because you don't have the exact shade of a color. If you'd like to add an additional color to accent, please restrict it to about 10% of your page.
"Evidence" - These are elements drawn from the inspiration image that you should include on your page. They may be products, techniques, or other design ideas. Choose two or more to include in your layout. If you see other elements that inspire you in this picture, feel free to add those, too!
"Testimony" - This is the journaling part. Choose one (or more) elements for your journaling. The journaling elements are also drawn from the inspiration image and may be in the form of topic ideas, journaling formats, journaling approaches, or words to inspire your stories. They are meant to spark ideas for you to tell a story on your page. You can combine them, use them as a jumping-off point, or you can always use The Scene (inspiration image) as inspiration for your journaling.
"The Sketch" - New for 2013, CSI is joining forces with the Page Drafts. Em Stafrace, creator of this awesome sketch site, is creating an exclusive sketch for CSI the second week of each month. You may interpret the elements in the design as you wish, but use the basic composition of the sketch. You may flip or rotate the sketch to suit your design.
Detailed Clues - Detailed clues for the Case Files can be found at the bottom of the Case File thread, after all of the design team's layouts are displayed. The clues that are given on the Case File image are explained in more detail in this spot. Links related to the Testimony, RGB codes, and so forth are found here.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope I have inspired you to join in this week.
If you cant find your way around or need to know something, I am more than happy to help...Please Ask.
