Hello!
Time for some scrapping!
I sat at my craft table yesterday and decided to have a play. I had an idea in my head as to what I wanted to do, but getting it from there to paper doesn't always happen...also having in my mind if I stuff it up its only paper and it can quite easily go in the bin.... I have done that before......so lets play!
This fabulous sketch is over at the Scrapbook store
I started with a white piece of cardstock, a black and white photo and some white paint. I stuck the photo down and squeezed some paint onto the cardstock....eeekkkk.......grabbed my paint brush and brushed it randomly around and over the outside edges of the photo (I am no painter)....the paint said white but it dried a cream colour on the white cardstock...never mind!
I then got out my circle cutter...something I got when I first started scrapping from Creative Memories and hardly ever used but its a bit of a go to tool for me now.. I am loving circles .....and I used it with a Black zig pen to draw around the edges, using different sizes and changed the thickness of the pen to draw some thick and thin lines.
Next I grabbed my Rub-on stash (I have always loved using Rub-ons so have a largish collection) an just randomly added bits and pieces all around the photo....some super old one were used here.
I added a couple of paper strips down the sides, coloured and added some gorgeous 2Crafty Chipboard using Black versa fine ink and added the 3 flower cluster with the pink for a touch of colour. I did actually visit my Mum before I added the pink flower and ask what she thought about the touch of colour. I was thinking all Black /White /Cream, but I did like the single pink flower and so did she. I am lucky to have her live so close and I often pop in for ideas and to get the yes or no....Thanks Mum. xx

(just wish I could have photographed it better, I find white so hard to photograph....
it always has a bluish or grey tinge to it).
Something really different again for me.
I don't have a style as such......its always changing.....I love to try different things.
....and Yeah I am really Happy with the way it looks!
Perhaps I need to play a bit more...might get my layouts done quicker!

I know what you mean about the white paint. I tried gesso-ing my cardstock (they're supposed to be both white right...) and the gesso looked a sickly yellow cream. Yucks! But oh... you did really good here with yours!
Good on you Janice, for having a go and getting the idea out of your head and onto the paper. As Jelissa said, it's modern, on trend and refreshing. Sadly, I have the same problem when trying to photograph white and have tried different brands of gesso to get it to photograph white, but it always looks a dirty white or cream. Not that it matters on this page, to my way of thinking. A gorgeous photo of your DD and I can just see a tiny peek of colour under the paper on the right which looks great with the pink flower. :D
Awesome page....so love the styling, design and balck and white colouring! Makes for a very effective and stand out page! ;-)
This is such a cool layout and the circles with the rubons look fabulous. White is a problem always unless you have serious lights and so on. I think white on white is also hard to do because the whites are never all the same white. :( one of the hassles I suppose. But I love this layout.
Fabulous layout Janice, you certainly have rocked the sketch. Love what you have done here. just perfect.
