My Design Team post from the 2Crafty blog.
 Hello Everyone!

I am honoured and very happy to be staying on this amazing team and to be
amongst these talented and creative scrappers.
Make sure you follow this page and like the 2Crafty Facebook page
so you don't miss any of the 2Crafty creations.
Today I have 3 layouts to share, each one is created using lots of
Vanessa's incredibly versatile 2Crafty chipboard pieces.
My 1st layout is called......
"I Just Love This Kid"

2Crafty Chipboard Pieces Used:
Polaroid Assorted Frames
Assorted Arrows
I just love this kid-title
Bicycles

I just Love this kid title was perfect for my layout.
Do you struggle to add a title to your layout? 2Crafty chipboard have lots
of word phrases which makes  adding a title really easy. I painted the heart with
'Brick" Tattered Angels Glimmermist and inked the  words with silver versa colour ink.
I added a pop dot behind the heart, added some thread and stuck it down.

I covered these 3 Polaroid Frames with gesso, then painted them partially with
Heidi Swapp, Black Velvet, Colour Shine. I painted some  'Brick' Glimmermist
on each one and added some torn washi tape strips and some punched grass
paper pieces to two of them. They are perfect to frame photos and parts of photos.

This little Bicycle was the perfect accessory for my page.
I inked it with Versa fine Black ink and added touches of Silver
so it looks like Matthews bike.

I added two Arrows from the Assorted Arrows pack to frame my photos.
I simply inked then with Black Ink

My 2nd layout is called....
"The Great Outdoors"

I created this layout for the current CASE FILE NO.131 at CSI

2Crafty Chipboard Pieces;
Thistle Shrub
2014
Grass Clumps
Fencing Wire
Mini Bicycle

This is the Case File criteria that I based my layout on.

There were so many gorgeous 2Crafty chippie pieces to choose from to
add to my outdoors layout.  I layered this stunning thistle shrub piece,
2 grass clumps and a piece of fencing wire to the edge of my photo.
The chippie is so versatile and cutting it up to make it go further is easy.
Each piece was coloured using Tim Holtz Distress inks, Rusty Hinge, Tea Dye
and Gathered Twigs, and Versa Colour Inks, Topaz, Lime and Olive. Pop dots
were used to add dimension and I added some thread  behind the grass clumps.

As kids we spent hour on bikes and rode everywhere,
so this mini Bicycle was just ideal to add to my layout.
I coloured the bike with Tim Holtz-Rusty Hinge and the
 little basket with Versa Colour-Topaz.

A close up of the coloured and layered Grass Clumps, with the tangled threads.

The chippie is so versatile.
These pieces are off cuts  from the Thistle Shrub and the Grass Clumps.
2014 has been coloured with Tim Holts-Rusty Hinge.

And my 3rd layout is called
"Swim, Enjoy, Fun"

My boy is a little fish and loves the water. He is always the first in and the last out.

2Crafty Chipboard Pieces;
Circles
Assorted Arrows
6'x6' summertime words

This pack of circles were  pulled apart and covered with white gesso.
Then sprayed with Tattered Angels-Glimmermist-Patina and  Frost.
Some were coloured with jenni bowlin- Speckled Egg- Acrylic Paint.
Once dry they were all layered and stuck down to represent water bubbles.

SWIM, enjoy, fun were  used from a  summertime pack.
Each word was covered with white gesso, dried with a heat gun and
covered with White Paint. I added the gesso and paint using a small piece of
a home brand kitchen sponge and daubed it onto the chipboard....
I was happy with how it turned out.

The arrows from the Assorted Arrow pack were covered the same as the words
above but I added some Patina glimmermist to these.

Thank you for stopping by the 2Crafty blog today.
I hope I have inspired you in some way.
I will be back in September with my next share.

CSI No 131 The Great Outdoors

Hello Everyone!

So, are you ready for this week's challenge?
Here is Case File No. 131
Its open and ready to be solved.
This week we also have a fabulous Page Drafts Sketch by the talented Em Stafrace

Here is my Design Team  take

{the great outdoors}
The Scheme;  using all 5 colours.
Evidence: wet medium- gesso, string, sun, brads.
Testimony; Journal about  an outdoor activity,
Inspiration words; outdoors

Growing up on the farm was fun.
We spent hours outdoors riding bikes, building cubbies and climbing trees.
It was an fabulous life. With it came some responsibilities.
We had lots of animals and they all needed to be fed and watered.
It was our job to do this when we got home from school.
We each took turns and did different jobs each week...most times it worked.
I loved watering and feeding our 3 working dogs.
Their kennels were in a patch of scrub and the tree tops were covered in a woven mat of what we called "snotty gobble". I would climb up the trees and muck around on it for ages...never ever having any fear of falling through or hurting myself. It was amazing  stuff and created hours of fun.

The Sketch; I have followed to suit my layout.
I just used the1 photo and cut it into 4 pieces

2Crafty have such gorgeous Chippie to add to your layouts.

We would love to see you join in and share your layout in the gallery.

Thanks for stopping by.
Your comments  are truly appreciated...Thank You.

Interview with Em Stafrace at Page Drafts

I am honoured and super excited to be a Guest Artist at Page Drafts during July.
Thank you so, so much for inviting me Em.

Below is copy and pasted from Page Drafts blog

BE DAZZLED BY JANICE NICHOLLS
Our amazingly talented guest artist exposé this month is this wonderful and sweet scrapper...

Janice lives in a small country town in South Australia. She has been scrapping since 2006 and her muses are often her grown kids, family being her main feature. Janice has a gorgeous style that crosses between a soft vintage look to a more bold graphic approach. She almost always uses flowers and washi tape which in many ways is the common thread between all her projects but its her eye catching photos that are the hero in all her work, and so they should be.
SO LETS LEARN A LITTLE MORE ABOUT HER....
Since starting scrapbooking my love of photography has grown. I don't go anywhere without my camera and I look at things through the lens differently now. I have been very fortunate to be part of a few amazing Design Teams and the opportunity to guest design as well has been fun. I am also lucky enough to have had some of my layouts published!
HOW DO YOU USE SKETCHES?
When I started my own blog in 2012 I began participating in some challenges. It was whilst doing a challenge at Paper Stories (no longer running) that I first came across Page Drafts Sketches. I loved the sketch and instantly became a follower of the Page Drafts blog. I then found the Color, Stories and Inspiration (CSI) site where Em is the resident sketch designer.
Following them can get me back on track to creating the perfect pages for my family memories.
I often flip or rotate a sketch to suit a photograph I am working with and recommend you try it too.
Artist Tip: Don't be afraid to change things up to work for you!

HOW DO YOU DESCRIBE YOUR SCRAPBOOK STYLE?
My style is always changing. At teh moment I love double photos, grouped and layered clusters, chipboard and white space. I also like to add depth to my backgrounds by using stencils, gesso, mists, inks, washi tape and rub-ons. I scrap mostly 12X12 layouts and enjoy trying out new techniques...not always successfully but it is fun trying!

CAN YOU SHARE A LITTLE TIP OR TRICK WITH US?
Do you feel like your pages are a bit flat? Or do you wonder how some of your fave scrappers are easily able to create what seems like lots of dimension to their work?
My tip is to think in layers when you are constructing your page.

Start by lay out your project, stacking everything as you go without actually adhering them. Once you are happy with the configuration try using foam tape or pop dots centred on the underside of your embellishment to adhere the the top layers this then allows you the space to tuck other elements and embellishments underneath easily and in turn adding lots more dimension to your artworks.

Artist Tip: Grab those punches you have stashed in your craft drawers and punch out some shapes. Try inking or distressing the edges to give them more definition before adhering them to your project. This is a great way to include a graphic visual interest and use up that ever mounting pile of scrap paper pieces.

Janice it has been an absolute pleasure having you on board and learning more about you and your scrapbooking process thank you so much for being our July guest!

If you would like to get to know Janice more and swoon over her projects head to her blog you will also find all the links to her current Design teams, so click on those too for even more inspiration!

Thank you again Janice! x
